The power of Illusion Journal 3

In our understanding illusion has several features such as:

1. Illusion is a distorted perception

2.The emergence of the illusion is conditional. When the conditions are met, the illusion will inevitably happen.

The idea for our physical illusion project comes from some illusion paintings. In these paintings the artists mostly use geometry, distance and height gap to create the conditions for the formation of illusion. We want to use a 3D approach to make this kind of illusion a success.

Using the software Soildworks, we make a computer generated 3D model, and adjust its observation angle. Then we cut and fix and produce a waterproof layer for the model.

In our plan we have an inlet and outlet for the shallow and long water trough. Water flows from the inlet through the water pump to the outlet, and produce a water cycle. Then we have another water pump to generate a waterfall in the center of the model. Now you have a look at our model from the observation angle or perspective which we have pre-arranged. You will find that the water forms a cycle which does not conform to the laws of physics or logic.

In the next step we are going to color our model and make it more strongly three-dimensional. At this stage the model has not been colored yet, and therefore the water flow in our model does not look clear enough. We are going to fix the problem very soon.
